The Odonian Rainbow Collective (2013)

This is an original piece of graphic art that I’ve recently completed for the Odonian Rainbow Collective’s community library. It incorporates our love of books, bikes, gardening, craftivism, and monkey wrenching. I’m very pleased with how it came out.

The symbolism draws heavily from the Ursula K Le Guin novel The Dispossessed (1974), a science fiction story about an anarchist society on a desolate moon that orbits a planet not unlike our own planet Earth. The anarchists who built this ambiguous utopia are called “Odonians” and you can see the moon, Anarres, orbiting planet Urras in the picture.

The mixed Latin and Greek words roughly translate into “Free Anarchist Community Library”.
